3 Places We Want To Visit in Scotland (Post-Lockdown)

Updated: Mar 18, 2021

You all know how much we love the place we work here at Chocolates of Glenshiel! We just love being able to go outside the factory doors and see the beautiful Loch Duich and the Five Sisters of Kintail.

However, just like the rest of the world, our team are itching to be able to go somewhere new again. We just love Scotland, and we cannot wait for lockdown restrictions to ease so we can go to some of our favourite Scottish destinations. We asked some of our team where they are dreaming of visiting...

1. Dornoch - Finlay

"Dornoch is one of the first places I plan on visiting once restrictions allow. The Highlands is such a big place, and the area of Easter Ross (where Dornoch is situated) is one area I have barely explored. It has some beautiful sandy beaches (something we don’t really get on the West Coast). Dornoch also has this really lovely old market town feel to it with some wonderful wee shops. Just north of Dornoch at the Falls of Shin there is some of the best food in the highlands available at Mac & Wild. They also have some really fun camping options in tree tents or land rovers with an outdoor hot tub!"

If you want to sleep in Highland luxury, we would suggest a stay at Links House Hotel. Some of their most comfortable rooms are named after our local area! Not only that but on arrival you will be welcomed with a tasty selection of our very own Chocolates of Glenshiel. Reason enough to visit we think!

2. Glencoe - Fin

“I love climbing the mountains around Glenshiel. It’s been one of the ways I’ve been enjoying my weekends in lockdown. Once restrictions ease, I’m hoping to make a trip down to Glencoe and enjoying some climbing and camping in one of the most famous landscapes in Scotland.”

On our way to Glencoe from Glenshiel, we always make sure to stop in Fort William. One of our favourite stops is the newly opened Highland Soap Company Visitor Centre and Larder Cafe. Supporting other businesses in the Scottish Highlands is a real joy, and we are so excited to visit the Highland Soap Company as soon as lockdown is over. And surprise surprise, you can the very finest Scottish chocolates there!

3. St Andrews - Heather

“St Andrews is one of my favourite small towns in Scotland. I love walking along the beautiful West Sands Beach and then heading into the town to enjoy some of my favourite snacks and have a nosy around the little shops and boutiques that line the streets. Trips to St Andrews for us always include either ice cream from Jannetta’s or a fudge doughnut from Fisher & Donaldson. Always a difficult decision but we thoroughly enjoy whatever we choose (even if it is both)!"

One of our favourite places to grab a more substantial bite to eat in St Andrews is Balgove. Their cafe serves wonderful breakfast and lunch options, as well coffees and sweet treats. They have a wonderful farm shop, which showcases some of the best Scottish produce on offer (including our own range of chocolates). We would struggle to suggest a better place to discover a wide range of the food and drink produced here in Scotland.

Where in Scotland are you excited to visit?
